I’m not exactly the do it yourself sort of guy.
- And I can’t blame it on all the time I spend being a father and a husband.
That’s because I’m neither. I do spend an inordinate amount of time inside the zone controlled HVAC of my office though. And that job pays me enough so I’m not the guy who needs to put on the deck himself to save money. Yet, this doesn’t mean that I’m completely inept when it comes to taking care of my house. Even though it’s just me and two dogs, I still look after the place. I do all the stuff like changing the air filter on the HVAC equipment to tending to my herb garden. I do get some help inside the central air conditioning of my home though. There is a nice lady who does the housekeeping and some cooling four days a week. But the rest of it is on me and I do my best to keep things up around my house. To that end, this is the first year that I did anything more than getting an air conditioning tune up when it comes to saving on cooling costs. I always get seasonal HVAC maintenance because I belong to the HVAC service plan provided by the local HVAC company. But I decided to spend an afternoon doing something that will really help keep the air conditioning costs down this Summer. I actually replaced all of the weather stripping in my home over the weekend. Now, every entrance to my home makes a very tight seal when it’s closed. I could once see daylight around the doors and now, it’s a very tight seal.
