Our office was participating in a trade show that other companies would be attending, meaning we got to learn more about what we would use in business operations and at home. Being in the procurement department meant that I got to attend and find prospective suppliers for all our needs. That’s how I happened upon a heating equipment company with a variety of HVAC products for sale. I have never interacted with our HVAC specialists when they come home for heater maintenance, so I did not know what to expect from the HVAC specialist manning their part of the trade show. Surprisingly, they are not boring and were very good salespeople. I gained interest in their electric HVAC which was a whole world apart from the boiler I have been familiar with all my life. The HVAC serviceman took us through the basics of the electric heat pump and how it can be energy efficient despite being an electric heating system, which can sound intimidating for someone who has never used electricity for cooling and heating. Beyond that, I loved that the heat pump installation could be done in a way that would afford home access to heated floors, which is something I have always wanted to have in my house. I couldn’t afford an installation but I took the contact details of the heating technician in case the office needed services from them, especially with our constant purchase of quality HEPA filter units for the office, which is notorious for dust and other air pollutants. I did however get energy-saving tips for my home and a discount for a wireless thermostat which was installed when I got the technician to come assess my unit for the right thermostat.
