I’ve heard stories about the adjustment that came with the Summer around here.
It’s all I can do to open the door when there is a delivery during the peak heating hours of the afternoon, then i work at property plus so I’m not about to be going outside after 11 in the afternoon during the Summer, that’s just what it’s like where I live; My wonderful friend and I are so far south that the heat plus humidity are basically unmanageable without the aid of a heat pump. Thankfully, I have good residential Heating and Air Conditioning so it’s pleasant inside my home, but of course, I keep the thermostat near or above 72 degrees this time of year… Some might guess that’s too high of a thermostat setting for the Summer, but when the temperature is almost always 95 or above, an 72 degree thermostat setting feels genuinely comfortable. And I also make sure that fans are going throughout the afternoon as well. A fan uses less than 1/10th the energy that the heat pump uses. And I’m all about saving on a/c costs. Still, I can’t genuinely imagine just what it must have been like for folks back in the afternoon, then residential Heating and Air Conditioning wasn’t available until the 50’s. And the heat pump wasn’t readily available for most everyone until even later. I’ve heard stories about the adjustment that came with the Summer around here. It was up at like 3 in the afternoon to get work done before the heat plus humidity got intense. And then, it was a breeze or a fan that was the only relief. That plus some shade! While I’m still awfully partial to fans plus shades, I’ll take my central a/c as well thank you.
