I work for a local plumbing company. I have been with the company for about ten years and have worked my way up from making house call to now manager the store. For many years we were the only plumbing company around town so business was always very good. However, that changed about a year ago when a couple of other plumbing companies opened up close to us. We slowly started losing business and for a while it didn’t really make a huge difference on our bottom line. However, in the past couple of months I have noticed a huge difference and I need to start thinking of new tactics to get business. I called a local HVAC company that is in the same complex as we are to see if they wanted to trade services. The HVAC technician was a little confused about what I meant, so I told him we would start recommending his HVAC company to our customers if he would start recommending our company to his HVAC customers. Once I explained everything the HVAC tech transferred me to his manager and we talked on the phone for a while. I was happy when the manager of the HVAC company agreed to exchange services with me. I think this is going to be a great partnership between my plumbing company and the HVAC company next door. I really hope that we start to see an increase in business very soon because the last thing I want to do is have to close down the company.
