When my friend Ed and I talked to the roofers, Ed and I met the people who were supposed to be in the home while Ed and I were at work.
When I got to the condo that afternoon, there were only two roofers on my roof, and one looked like she was only twelve years old.
I was talking to the foreman, who told me two of the roofers got ill and had to go home. They had to bring in an updated roofer or she would need to go home. She could not work on the roof separate from someone else with him. It would be a major safety issue. I understood all about working safely, however it was safe to work with a young girl. She looked at me oddly and asked who I was talking about. I pointed to the little girl who was working on the roof. She told me that was her kid, and she was almost twenty-five years old, and had been working for the roofing company for over ten years. I didn’t suppose him, but she was taking responsibility for the young roofer while she was in the house. She was a licensed and bonded roofer, and I wouldn’t be held responsible if something bad happened to the girl. When my child got home, she was excited to see the young woman on the roof. She told me she had gone to school with him, and it would be nice to talk to him unless she had to rush over when they were done with the roof. I told her I thought the updated roofer looked like she was twelve years old, and she laughed. She said she was almost 2 years older than she was.
