I live in a small house with no central heating.
In the winter months, there are a few nights that can become incredibly cold inside.
Most of the time, this is no problem, but some nights we have to turn on space heaters in every room in order to keep warm. The biggest challenge is getting the bathroom warm with the small space heater we have. The space heater is old and looks prone to starting a fire. We are not sure if we should keep it on while we are in the other room, but the house is small enough that we don’t mind checking on it periodically. From time to time, I worry that the cat is going to go in there and knock it down. We are very careful with our cat and the space heaters in this house. We know that a space heater can cause a serious fire. The bathroom has a drafty window and gets really cold in the winter. The shower is all tile and becomes frigid when the space heater isn’t running at least an hour before you get it, it’s like getting into an ice box no matter what the water temperature. I like to take my showers at night, so getting the bathroom warm is a little easier for me. My boyfriend showers in the morning, and he says he’s not bothered by the icy cold tile in the morning. To me, that sounds like a nightmare. I like to have to space heater in the bathroom, but it is important to be careful with them in the winter months, and especially near water, pets, and kids.
