The furnace in the house we bought was not properly installed

My husband and I have been married for about fifteen years now, but we have only been home owners for about one year. We had the money saved up when we got married to buy our first home, but life did not go as planned. My husband is a nurse, and we ended up traveling the globe for his job for the past fourteen years. It has been a life full of adventure, and I would not have traded it for anything. We learned so much through traveling, and we grew so close together through our years out of the country. We obviously never bought a house since we were hardly ever in the states. We finally retired from traveling the globe, so this past year, we bought our first house. We love the house a lot. When we bought it, we thought that it did not need any work, but we were mistaken. We have not had any major projects, the biggest thing that we found was that our furnace was not properly installed. When we bought the house, the previous owners told us that the furnace was brand new which was true, but they did not tell us that they had their teenage son install it. It was not installed properly, so it did not run when we tried to turn it on for the first time of the season. Thankfully, my husband worked for an HVAC company for a couple of years when he was a teenager. He knew what was wrong, and he was able to figure out how to install it properly.
