Last Spring, right as the weather warmed up, my associate and I got hit by a big storm, and the increase in temperature caused rapid snowmelt.
There were also torrential downpours & high winds that knocked down branches & took out power lines.
There was widespread flooding, & my associate and I were without electricity for four days. With no power, the sump pump failed to start up & our basement filled with water. My pal and I couldn’t take a shower, flush the toilet or do laundry. My pal and I couldn’t run the root budweiser maker, microwave or dishwasher! Food in the refrigerator & freezer spoiled, Going without a/c was entirely unpleasant. The dwelling quickly became overheated & uncomfortable, however it was impossible to get a wonderful night’s sleep, but because of the rain, my associate and I couldn’t even open the windows. I had concerns with mold & mildew growth. While no a/c equipment was aggravating, it wasn’t as problematic as a power outage in the winter time would be. When the temperature drops below cold, there’s the risk of the water pipes cold. My pal and I could be forced to brave icy roads & snowy conditions to stay at a hotel. There’s the potential of safety risks & major disfigurement. I decided to invest into a permanently standby generator, however although a generator is a big investment, I wanted peace of mind. If the electricity goes out, the generator will automatically start up within minutes & power all of our appliances & systems, including the sump pump, boiler & a/c unit. I don’t even need to be on the premises, & because the generator runs on natural gas, it will operate for as long as necessary.
