It took me over five years to finally have all new windows in the home
My dwelling is drastically big, entirely old & strenuous to temperature control. The weather in my local area makes both heating & cooling necessary. Along with struggling to achieve year round comfort, the cost of running the boiler & a/c equipment has a major impact on the budget. When my associate and I first moved into the house, there were concerns with the HVAC duct, boiler & a/c unit, then however, even having the duct system cleaned & sealed & replacing the heating & cooling equipment didn’t solve all of the problems. The dwelling was not tightly sealed. My pal and I dealt with drafts, frigid & sizzling spots & our conditioned air leaking out through gaps in the thermal envelope. While caulking, weatherstripping & insulating helped a lot, my associate and I needed to upgrade the windows. The majority of energy losses can be blamed on windows. My dwelling has twenty-five windows of assorted sizes. Many of them were painted shut & all of them were single pane & super old. Replacing them was an extravagant project, especially since I wanted to purchase Energy Star rated, thermal pane options. Most of the windows required custom ordering due to their strange sizes. I started replacing the windows one at a time & learned how to complete the replacement on my own. It took me over five years to finally have all new windows in the home. I have observed a significant improvement in comfort & utility costs. There is far less temperature change from one room to another. The boiler & a/c equipment no longer need to run as often or as long.
