There are some perks to living in an apartment if I had to be honest.
It’s nice coming home and knowing that if my plumbing gets backed up, I can call the maintenance staff and have them send somebody out the same day or the next day.
On top of that, if the roof gets damaged during a tropical storm or hurricane, the insurance for the whole building covers the repair costs. These are things you have to deal with on your own if you’re a homeowner. I’m watching my brother go through all of these issues right now with his life. Him and his wife just moved into their own house for the first time this year, and it’s been nothing but trouble since the last hurricane hit. We had to get their home insurance to pay for a new roof and it took months of living with tarps on the top before they could get a roofing company out here to do the work. They also have to do all of the HVAC work themselves or higher the companies that need to do it. Even my own apartment complex replaces my HVAC filters for me. Every 6 weeks they send the maintenance guy over to put a new filter in my heating and cooling system. This is essential for keeping the air conditioner running efficiently for long periods of time. If you don’t keep the filters changed out regularly, the evaporator coil can get damaged inside the air handler. On top of that, your air quality is going to drop in the process. I don’t want to be living in an apartment with bad air quality.
