So there are some perks that come with working for yourself. For sure, I don’t get to work inside the zone controlled HVAC of a fancy office building any longer. And getting that regular paycheck with the occasional bonuses are a thing of the past. Those were not easy details to walk away from. But honestly, I think I walked into the commercial HVAC of that office knowing full well that I always wanted to be my own boss. Still, I had a lot to learn and that job provided all manner of important training for me. That said, I don’t miss it. And even though I’m getting ready to go into the part of the year where I really miss that zone controlled HVAC of the office, I’m pretty excited. Since I went out on my own, I’m either traveling to meet with or provide services for my customers or working from the central air conditioning of home. It didn’t make much sense to rent office space since it’s just me at this point. So I’ve been working from home in the Summer and it’s been hot. I keep the thermostat setting quite high during the peak heating hours of the day. That’s to save money on expensive cooling costs. But this Summer, I’m going to do my normal business travel and then stay out. I’ve figured out how to work from cooler climates all Summer while I travel for business. Instead of going home between trips, I’m going to stay out there camping and working from places where I can access wi-fi. I’ll leave the central air conditioning on enough to mitigate mold and mildew growth. But other than that, I won’t be having to spend so much on HVAC costs this Summer and I’ll be a heck of a lot cooler up north.
