Well, I think it may be time to hang up the volleyball hat and call it a career.
- I started playing late in life as far as sports go, at the age of 25 years old, and now I am turning 56 and my body is telling me it is time to stop.
I really don’t want to quit but I feel if I keep playing more I won’t be able to run or even walk soon. My knees have no cartilage and are grinding and in pain after I play, so either getting knee replacements from the local business, which I don’t want to do at all, or stopping playing are my choices. My HVAC tech job will be impossible to do if my knees are shot, so I have to take the courageous step in leaving the sport I loved so much, or else my job at the HVAC company is going to cease to exist. I will focus all my time and energy on music, as I am a drummer in a band, and I think that can be my new volleyball. The heating supplier was there when I started playing and she had to quit playing a few years back when she couldn’t carry heat pumps from the back of the store where we were working. I guess I am now following suit and need to do the same so that my later years are not spent in a wheelchair next to a beach watching the kids play, how sad would that be? I am off to buy a HEPA filter, see ya.
