Having air conditioning while feeling like we’re outside a bit really has helped our spirits this Summer.
This Summer has been much, much more pleasurable than any of the other Summers we’ve spent in this region. My husband and I retired to this area almost 20 years ago. We were both able to stop working when we were 60. So, we’ve had a leisurely retirement as we are both nearing 80. That meant that we were able to play lots of golf, go for hikes and enjoy plenty of travel for nearly two decades. But as we close in on 80, we are definitely slowing down. And that means less energy and time for doing all the stuff that we once enjoyed. But that’s just part of getting older and we’re more accepting of it than we are trying to resist it. We’re blessed to be so healthy at this age so slowing down isn’t all that bad. Still, we miss getting out of the air conditioning during the Summer. The heat and humidity are just too intense for us during the afternoon this time of year. We get up really early to get outside for a walk or errands. But it’s home and inside the central air conditioning from late morning on. However, we had a ductless heat pump added to our sunroom this past Spring and it’s glorious. Even in the middle of the afternoon we can enjoy some sunshine and blue sky thanks to the ductless heat pump. Having air conditioning while feeling like we’re outside a bit really has helped our spirits this Summer. Of course, we’re both ready for the heat and humidity to abate. But that won’t be happening for at least a couple of months as it’s only July. Until then, we’ll just keep enjoying the cooling comfort of the sunroom.
