I called home everyday I was away from the kids

I had to leave for a couple of days and go to the city. I wasn’t exactly excited about the trip, because I knew I was going to be away from my kids for several days. My mom offered to come over to the house to be with the kids, but I honestly didn’t think it was necessary. My son is 15 years old and my daughter is 13. I thought they would be just fine for the weekend alone. My mom is right down the road in case of an emergency so they could simply call her if they needed something. I called home everyday to make sure that the kids were okay. On Thursday night I called the kids when I got to the city and checked into my hotel. My daughter was watching a movie and my son was washing dishes for dinner. I made food before I left the house so they didn’t have to cook anything while I was gone. I also left the kids a credit card for emergencies. I didn’t think there would be any emergencies but I wanted to be safe. I definitely did not expect problems with the air conditioning system. My son called me on Saturday morning because there wasn’t any cold air coming out of the ductwork. The air conditioner should have been running and my son was getting upset because it was getting warmer and warmer inside of the house. I told my son to call his grandmother so she could come and look at the air conditioner. She couldn’t fix the problem either, but she called a repair center.
