I no longer have to use disposable hand warmers to be able to type and I no longer need my sweater
I work in a medium sized business office with about twelve cubicles inhabited mostly by women and five regular offices inhabited by men in suits and it was almost always too cold in the office. The men in suits were always turning the thermostat down to around 60 or 65 degrees and it was way too cold for those of us dressed for the tropical weather in the area where we lived and worked. We couldn’t really say anything because these men in suits are the bosses and, obviously, their comfort was important too.. Most of us women kept sweaters or shawls at work and there were times I actually used disposable hand warmers at work just so I could type! We even looked for a way to partially block the air vents! Inevitably, someone would turn the thermostat back up to a more comfortable temperature, but it wouldn’t stay there. It would eventually get turned back down to 60 or 65 degrees again. This did a lot of wear and tear on the air conditioner and a few months ago, it had to be replaced. But, with the new air conditioner came some relief. Someone ordered a programmable smart thermostat and the air conditioner stays at 72 degrees during the work day. It can’t be changed by just anybody. I no longer have to use disposable hand warmers to be able to type and I no longer need my sweater. Whoever came up with the idea of a programmable smart thermostat has my sincere thanks. Work is a lot more comfortable now.
