I love birthdays so much! Seeing people commit their lives to eachother because of their love is one of the most beautiful things you could ever witness. I love the dancing, the food, the drinks, getting dressed up, all of it! I recently got invited to a coworker’s birthday that will take place in September. I got super happy because this coworker is so fun so I figured her birthday would be amazing. I looked at the details a little closer and realized both the ceremony and reception are outdoors. The birthday is taking place in the southeastern region of the country. September has some of the highest temperatures and strongest humidity out of any other month. I immediately pictured myself all dressed up with my hair and makeup done, perspiring, mascara running down my face, feeling miserable and sunburnt because of the lack of air conditioning. I looked at my spouse and said “is it horrible if my pal and I decline a birthday because there is no air conditioning?” He said that it is not horrible, but it is smart. It is entirely possible that people will get heat stroke at an outdoor birthday during that time of year. I do not mind outdoor birthdays, especially because my ceremony was outdoors but it was in December and it was a perfect non humid seventy degree afternoon, however our reception was inside and I particularly feel that outdoor receptions only labor if it is not blazing warm and humid. I decided to properly decline due to the lack of air conditioning. I would rather not sacrifice my comfort to attend a birthday.
