My kids are absolutely refusing to go into the basement. This is frustrating because that’s where I do their laundry and now they won’t even bring their clothes for me to wash because of the basement. They don’t want to come down to the basement with me. So what’s so scary about the basement? Well they’re not happy with the new furnace that my husband and I installed. They say it’s old and creepy and makes some erie sounds. It doesn’t help that their father has the same opinion. Even he says the furnace is creepy. Even though it’s a new furnace to us it is an old furnace because it is one that we purchased used. I’ve been trying to convince the kids to go down there but they’re sure that there’s a monster that’s about to jump out at them from the inside of the furnace. I will be honest when I go down there and I look at the glow of the furnace and the gloomy darkness in the basement it can give you a little bit of the creeps. But it isn’t that scary, granted my kids are only seven and nine so I’m hoping they will outgrow this phase of being afraid of the heating system. I always used to enjoy having them down in the basement with me because I told him stories that were spooky in nature while we were down there. They just love scary stories but try not to make it too scary since they’re pretty young and now I’m blaming myself for unintentionally scaring them and making them afraid of the heating system. The furnace is just a furnace and for what it does it’s an excellent furnace when it comes to heating our home.
