I work in a medium sized supplier office with about twelve cubicles inhabited mostly by ladies and five proper offices inhabited by boys in suits and it was almost regularly too cold in the office! The boys in suits were regularly turning the temperature control down to around 60 or 65 degrees and it was way too cold for those of us dressed for the tropical weather in the area where my buddy and I lived and worked, but my associate and I couldn’t absolutely say anything because these boys in suits are the bosses and, obviously, their comfort was important too..
Most of us ladies kept sweaters or shawls at work and there were times I entirely used disposable hand warmers at work just so I could type! My associate and I even looked for a way to partially block the air vents! Inevitably, someone would turn the temperature control back up to a more comfortable temperature, however it wouldn’t stay there, but it would eventually get turned back down to 60 or 65 degrees again.
This did a lot of wear and tear on the air conditioner and a few months ago, it had to be replaced, then but, with the new air conditioner came some relief! Someone ordered a programmable smart temperature control and the air conditioner stays at 70 degrees during the work afternoon. It can’t be changed by just anybody. I no longer have to use disposable hand warmers to be able to type and I no longer need my sweater, however whoever came up with the idea of a programmable smart temperature control has my sincere thanks. Work is a lot more comfortable now.
